[Ven came to this world looking for Terra, but he was finding it more difficult to navigate than most. It was so much larger than any other world he had visited before and much, much stranger. The technology managed to be both primitive and advanced at the same time and the people were oddly oblivious about any and all forms of magic. No one he had spoken to seemed to know anything about Terra or where he could find him. Most people spoke to him stiffly, eyeing him with an amused sort of caution that he'd never received from others on any other world before this one.

Beyond that there just seemed to be so many people in desperate need of assistance. People on the streets who looked lost and alone. People struggling to keep the light inside of themselves alive. It was heartbreaking to see and he tried to do the best he could for those people. He'd give them a few bills of the local currency, offer a smile and a kind word. Just something to brighten their day and maybe make things feel a little less hopeless for once.

Ven might have come here to look for Terra, but it was his duty as a wielder of a Keyblade to help those in need and so far from what he'd seen there were a lot of people here in need of help. A little bit of money was nothing in the grand scheme of things and it was something he could very easily earn back with time. With as much suffering as he had seen on the street it was also no surprise that this particular world was a hotbed for the Unversed. There was plenty he could do here to help and it seemed like it would take more time than usual to find any leads on where Terra could have gone.

So when another seemingly lost soul on the street stopped him to ask for some spare change, he thought nothing of it. The man all but spilled his life story to him and though it was sobering to listen to, he was happy to hear the tale if it would help bring this man some peace. He was very ill, the man had told him. He needed money for medicine and food. Surely, Ventus could spare some money to help him? A few hundred yen was the least he could do for someone who seemed to have suffered enough indignities as it was, so it was with a genial smile and a firm nod that he once again reached for his steadily emptying wallet.]

[Kyoko's been keeping an eye on this kid for awhile now.

The first thing that had caught her attention was the fact that he carried a magical signature. He wasn't a Puella Magi, nor did he seem to be anyone of particular concern, and that alone warranted keeping an eye on him. The more she saw, though, the more it became clear that she was dealing with somebody completely and totally hopeless. If there wasn't much to be found in the way of magic, there were plenty of performances to be shown by panhandlers and scammers and the kid bought into every one of them.

She'd watched without comment until now, figuring that after awhile he'd either go broke or wisen up. To his credit (and her dismay,) he somehow managed to do neither. Even now, he's reaching for his quickly shrinking wallet, planning on offering money up to a worthless addict. Soon as he got it, he'd no doubt run right off to get his next fix.

She really can't take this anymore. Kyoko smoothly places herself next to Ven, hands stuffed in her wallets, interrupting their negotiations with a loud sigh.]

Look, I hate to tell you this, but this one's broke.

[She pulls one hand out of her pocket, using it to tap Ven's arm.]

And his mother's dying. Can't you have a little sympathy for the guy? This is his last chance to see her, and you wanna see it wasted like this?

[Her sharp glare cuts off the panhandler's excuses, and he settles for an apology. He hadn't realized, of course; he had merely been looking for enough to cover his bus fare.

And, without even acknowledging that, Kyoko places her hands on Ven's shoulders and starts to guide him away.]

... Let's go.

[Jeez, kid... Couldn't you play along a little? Kyoko exhales another loud, dramatic sigh.]

Hmm? See what I mean. The kid's completely hopeless. Got into a bad accident and lost all his memory, now he runs around pretending he doesn't even have a mother.

[She continues guiding him along, not even bothering to address his question. It should be obvious, right? His mother's dying. She's just taking him to see her.]

Now, if you'll excuse us... I've gotta get this kid home before his old lady kicks it, and before some con artist bleeds him dry. C'mon, kid.

[Push.]

[Kyoko waits until they've rounded the corner before addressing him, exasperation present in her voice,]

Whatever illness he has, it's not something that a handful of yen is going to fix.

[Chances are it was one that no amount of money could cure, but she keeps that thought to herself for now.]

Anyway, he was just saying that to make you feel bad for him, y'know. You can't believe every sob story that you hear.

[Kyoko takes a moment to consider the best way to answer that. It's a far more naive stance that she would've expected, even from an odd looking kid like this.]

Do you think you can cure an alcoholic by giving him more sake?

[A beat.]

Some problems can't be solved just by giving a person what they want, y'know. You'll just cause more trouble for them.
